18th Phuket Raceweek 2021 Plans and Update
The good news here in Phuket is that there is a confident government plan to re-open Phuket from the 1st of July known as the Phuket Sandbox which some of you may have heard about.
We have also been told this week that we can hold an event with up to 200 people subject to certain conditions.
Our Plan.
It is now our full intention to get something organised and look to the local sailing community to support our efforts.
Subject to full confirmation from the Phuket Authorities it is our intention to organise the 18th Phuket Raceweek with racing based in the South of Phuket and Chalong Bay with registration on Thursday 26th August and 3 days racing Friday to Sunday the 27th – 29th August.
Please put the dates in your diary.
It is not possible due to such short notice and limited time to base our event at Cape Panwa Hotel for 2021, however the hotel and sister hotel Kantary Bay are open and would welcome any accommodation requests.
The Phuket Raceweek Organisation.
As this is such short notice with a huge amount of work to organise, we are looking for volunteers to help us.
If you feel you can contribute, please contact Khun Rung on rung@phuketraceweek.com
The Costs.
It is our intention to create a low-cost event
- minimal boat entry fees, 6,000 Thai Baht per boat
- entry ticket of 300 Thai Baht per person.
Notice Of Race.
I am working with Simon James and Regatta’s Asia and aim to produce the NOR in the next week with further details of the event, registration venue and hopefully some added benefits.
In conclusion, it has, to say the least, been a tough time for many over the last 18 months and we now hope that this is the start for us all to resume to some sort of normal.
Wishing everyone stay safe and health,
