WOW the latest from multihulls builder Asia Catamarans

Multihulls roar ready for July

Entries are hotting up for 2015 Cape Panwa Hotel Phuket Raceweek

Thailand’s multihulls fleet is growing, especially in Phuket, and with two key events on the local multihulls calendar in July Multihull Solutions Regatta and the Cape Panwa Hotel Phuket Raceweek  the Green Season is a great time to sail in Phuket.

Working closely with Corsair Marine and Multihull Solutions, we are proud to announce a Corsair class at this year’s Raceweek which will include four of the new Corsair Pulse 600 one-design trimarans  crewed by Chinese sailors  as well as welcoming Corsairs of all sizes and ages. They will compete together on handicap.

The exciting new one-design Corsairs will be joined by other Corsair models in their own, Corsair-only, class, said Byron Jones, Managing Director of organisers Media Business Services Co. Ltd. (MBS).

In addition to this, we expect to see a large number of other multihulls competing in a separate class, resulting in possibly one of the largest multihull fleets in the Regatta’s history.

Joining the Corsairs is a large mixed fleet of catamarans made up of a strong local contingent including the Firefly 850s, past Raceweek winners and four of the Phuket-built Stealth catamarans from the Asia Catamarans yard.

Entries are hotting up

In addition to the strong multihulls line-up, the IRC class entries are picking up pace with many returning sailors back for 2015 and a growing number of international crews flying into charter and race. These will be joined by the stunning classics and rumours are there could be two TP52s on the startline this year. More on that in due course.

Nobody goes thirsty at Raceweek

Keeping competitors refreshed throughout this year’s event are Peroni and Radenska, back for their second year at Raceweek, and Finca de Malpica, a new Spanish wine from long-time regatta partner Siam Winery. The sailor’s rum, Mount Gay Rum, which launched into Thailand at Raceweek four years ago, are also back by popular demand and continues its affiliation with the award-winning regatta

Local support

Born out of Phuket, Raceweek has always been organised by sailors, for sailors, and is a part of the local sailing scene fabric, and one of the event’s underlying aims has always been to work with local authorities and businesses to promote Phuket and sailing around the region.

Joining Phuket Raceweek for the first time this year as an Island Partner is Sailescapes, a local charter company representing 30 boats who, together with another charter partner, DaVinci Yacht Charters, provide a value local charter service for interested international crews.

Further local support is welcomed from Cape Panwa Hotel and Kantary Bay Phuket, as title and hosts, together with a raft of local Phuket and Thailand partners including Concept Paradise, 91.5FM, Cape + Kantary, Esquire, Image Asia, Illuzion Yacht Charters, Phuket Gazette, Phuket Today, Phuket Marine Guide, SEA Yachting, Town & Country Thailand, Absolute World Group, International Law Office, ISS Security Services, Phuket International Hospital, Electrical Marine, Phuket Boat Lagoon, Krabi Boat Lagoon and Quantum Sails.

Cape Panwa Hotel Phuket Raceweek is supported by the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Ao Chalong Yacht Club and Yacht Racing Association of Thailand.
